AuthorAID is a program based at the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP). It is supported by the Swedish International Development Corporation Agency (Sida) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID).
AuthorAid’s focus is about assisting researchers (particularly those in developing countries) in getting their research work “out there” – be it in a published form, or talked about in e-discussion forums.
Some of the tools that are provided on the website include:
- a resource library where researchers can access documents on best practices and steps in the writing process. e.g. Writing a scientific article and Journal editing
- training events are organised and publicised through the website. A writing workshop in Zambia is coming up in the next couple of weeks.
The website also has a mentoring/support element, in that young researchers can have the opportunity to be put in contact with more senior researchers and editors. A nice feature indeed!
