Biodiversity and agriculture

Today is the International Day for Biological Diversity.

It is celebrated every year on the 22nd May. This year’s theme is on “Biodiversity and Agriculture”, a subject very close to our hearts and focus.

The CBD on their website states: This year’s theme for the International Day for Biological Diversity (IBD), “Biodiversity and Agriculture,” seeks to highlight the importance of sustainable agriculture not only to preserve biodiversity, but also to ensure that we will be able to feed the world, maintain agricultural livelihoods, and enhance human well being into the 21st century and beyond.

Bioversity International will launch its global campaign, “Diversity for Life” today in Rome with a special evening event. There will be speakers and then a concert given by the Piazza Vittorio Orchestra. To view the programme please click here.
