WOTW: Intute

It has been sometime since we last highlighted a website, so we would like to bring to our readers’ attention the Intute website.  So what is Intute?

Intute is a free online service providing users with access to web resources for education and research. The service is created by a network of UK universities and partners. All the material and resources in the Intute database has been carefully evaluated and selected by a network of subject specialists, so users can be assured of finding relevant and concise information in the subject area that they are interested in.  Intute has 4 broad subject areas that it covers, these are:   Science and TechnologyArts and Humanities Social Sciences Health and Life Sciences.

Apart from having a database of resources that you can search, the website has some very nice features:-
*  it provides on-line tutorials for improving one’s internet searching skills;
*  you can subscribe to RSS feeds for any new resources that have been included in the Intute database in the subject area that interests you
* they have resource booklets in each of the broad subject areas that provide a selection of free learning and teaching resources from the web.
* you can search across 95 UK academic e-prints repositories

This website is really worth exploring, it can really assist researchers and students discover resources of relevance without having to wade through thousands of hits.  We will definitely be including this site on our Del. icio.us list.
